The Whole 9 Yards (book)
Pictured above is the cover graphic from Tyrone Turner’s book, THE WHOLE 9 YARDS.
My name is Tyrone Turner and I’m the author of THE WHOLE 9 YARDS.
I’ve been working in Corporate America for 20+ years (mostly in the legal field). During that time I’ve been a paralegal, a business developer, and an operations manager. I’ve also been a high school teacher in the NYC public school system.
What made me write this book is that I have grown sick and tired of all of the hokey theoretical nonsense out there about what it takes to become successful with one’s business. This book is full of strategies that I’ve used successfully over the years to grow my network, my book of business, and therefore, of course, my bank account.

What I mean by nonsense is all of the motivational, new age stuff talking about visualization and the law of attraction being the primary causes of one’s success or failure.
The truth is that you have to get off of your ass and work for any success that you may achieve.
Not all things that I’ve come across were nonsense but some of the material was not relevant to my demographic — sole proprietors, free lancers, independent contractors, and micro business owners (i.e., businesses with up to 5 employees).
Jack Welch and Peter Drucker are indeed geniuses but their books on operating a large company with a lot of people is not necessarily relevant to the challenges grassroots capitalists may face. So, I looked at my track record in sales and operations management and decided to give those similarly situated the real deal on what it takes to grow their micro business. As a matter of fact, I even discourage some from going into business at all. Just because you can bake cakes doesn’t mean you should open a bakery as an entirely different skill set is required.
THE WHOLE 9 YARDS will take you from A to Z on what it takes to grow a successful business. This book was written specifically for independent contractors and micro business owners. I don’t have a business in a box to sell you or a specific business type or industry to recommend to you. Whatever business you choose will be of your decision and your decision alone. I just want to give you the tools to make an informed decision.

If you already own and operate a business you will find this book full of strategies that I’ve used successfully over the years to grow my network, my book of business, and therefore, of course, my bank account.
There is nothing special about me. I was fortunate enough to have great mentors and who prepared me well and was presented with opportunities.
When preparedness meets opportunity success happens. It is just that simple. I want to help you get to where you want to go by helping you get prepared.
What you don’t know you can always learn, but the first thing I want you to wrap your mind around a philosophy of mine that has helped me have success. It is all about holding my relationship with my customers, employees, and co-workers/partners/team with sacred reverence.
I encourage you to make it a habit to honor the ‘ARC of the Covenant’.
ARC is an acronymn for * Appreciate * Reward * Celebrate *
Appreciate your customers. Reward your employees. Celebrate the success of your partners.
One way to do this is by regular follow-up, committing random acts of kindness, and voicing public praise.
Maya Angelou said, “People don’t necessarily remember what you say or do, but they remember how you made them feel.”
I hope you enjoy the book.
